“I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden wealth of secret places, so that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name” (Isaiah 45:3).

Looking for Gold
Dear Friends, I invite you to join me on this stretch of my faith journey called, “Looking for Gold.” I hope you will peek over my shoulder as I am “looking for gold” by exploring the thoughts and questions that flood my mind and those nuggets I find along the side of the road, in the local grocery store, in God’s Word, in the gift of a friend’s smile, in a devastating news headline, or in an orphan’s tears.
But how do we start? The scripture from Isaiah 45:3 gives us a clue. This passage tells us that treasures are hidden in darkness and in secret places. It seems to me two things are needed: The “light” of God’s Word in order for us to see in the darkness, so let’s strap on our miner’s headlamp. Next, we need a quiet spirit so that we can “hear” what the “light” is saying to us.
Lord Jesus, we ask that you go with us as we are “looking for gold.” May your Spirit lead us and guide us. May You receive the honor and glory!
Let the “digging” begin!
