I subscribe to a blog on leadership which, I confess, often ends up in my delete folder, but one issue about “leaders” and “followers” caught my eye. That was back in 2019. I came across the article again today and it had the same impact (I am a slow learner!).

Let you solve your own problem |
Tell you how your idea could be even better |
Cheer your idea |

“So I give you a new command: Love each other deeply and fully. Remember the ways that I have loved you and demonstrate your love for others in those same ways” (John 13:34, The Voice).
In writing about Liz Wiseman and her book, “Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter,” the blog writer* showed this graphic on your left. Oh, Ouch!.
I am sorry to say I have been a diminisher too many times in my life. This graphic is a good reminder that people can solve their own problems.
Does this mean I never offer to help? No, of course not. Does this mean I am uncaring? No, it means I respect other people’s choices, a much greater manifestation of love than making their rightful decisions for them.
These attributes aren’t just about being an effective leader. They are about being a good friend, church member, co-worker, neighbor or mentor, husband, wife, parent, or other family member. They are about growing healthy relationships.
“If some have cause to celebrate, join the celebration. And if others are weeping, join in that as well” (Rom. 12:15)
Do you know any diminishers or multipliers? If I have diminished you in some way, please forgive me! Join me in becoming a multiplier; we can encourage each other!
If you see a post that sparks your interest, please feel free to respond! I’d love to hear from you!
